Chill Out at Northgate Ice Rink: The Ultimate Escape from the Johannesburg Heat

When the Johannesburg sun is at its peak, finding a way to stay cool becomes a top priority. While malls offer air-conditioned relief, there is no better way to truly "chill out" than by stepping onto the ice at the Northgate Ice Rink. Located within the Northgate Shopping Centre, this indoor arena offers a literal escape into a winter wonderland, no matter how high the temperature climbs outside.

The Perfect Way to Beat the Heat

There is something incredibly refreshing about the immediate drop in temperature as you walk toward the rink. Whether you are a seasoned skater or a complete beginner, gliding across the ice provides a unique cooling sensation that a standard fan or AC just can't match. Beyond the temperature, it's a fantastic way to get active with friends or family.

Getting There and Fueling Up

For the quickest access to the cool air, head straight for Entrance 6 of the Northgate Shopping Centre - it is the closest entry point to the rink.

If you work up an appetite on the ice, you don’t have to go far. While the venue itself sells drinks, it is surrounded by popular restaurants within the mall:

Steers for quick, flavorful meals (both located right near Entrance 6).

Spur for a classic family sit-down meal.

Mugg & Bean or John Dory's for those wanting more variety.

Whether you're looking for a fun date night, a birthday party venue, or just a place to hide from the summer sun, Northgate Ice Rink is the place to be.
